Durkan & Sons Ltd successfully delivered comprehensive groundworks and infrastructure services for a major residential project at Adlington Road in Sheffield. The development consisted of 114 Independent Living apartments, 8 Learning Disability apartments, and 18 bungalows, complete with extensive landscaping and associated infrastructure.
Key Deliverables:
- Substructure & Foundations:
- Full excavation and spoil management.
- Installation of reinforced concrete foundations including ground beams, pad and strip foundations.
- Concrete and reinforcement works, adhering strictly to engineer specifications.
- Drainage Works:
- Comprehensive surface water (SW) and foul water (FW) drainage installation.
- Use of Polypipe drainage systems including manholes, inspection chambers, and extensive CCTV testing.
- Integration of sustainable infiltration trenching systems.
- Services Infrastructure:
- Installation of utility services (Gas, Water, Electric, BT) involving ducting, excavation, backfilling, and reinstatement.
- External & Hard Landscaping:
- Paving, kerbing, and edging works including installation of concrete kerbs, pin kerbs, flat top edging, and HB2 kerbs.
- Tarmacadam surfacing and preparation of temporary roads and footpaths.
- Provision of durable temporary pedestrian and vehicle access routes maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Additional Structures & Bases:
- Installation of silo bases, clothes dryer bases, scaffold mats, and hard-standing areas for material storage.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Full Health & Safety compliance with regular audits.
- Provision and maintenance of site security, pedestrian barriers, and PPE.
Materials & Equipment:
Durkan & Sons Ltd procured and managed an extensive range of materials and hired equipment including:
- Construction plant and equipment
- Concrete pumps and skips
- Vacuum excavation equipment
- A comprehensive range of drainage and ducting materials
