Project Overview
Durkan & Sons Ltd delivered specialist groundworks and civil engineering services for OCO Technology in Leeds. The project involved building a permeable car park with a Sustainable Drainage System (SUDS) to manage surface water runoff and help the site meet environmental and drainage requirements.
Scope of Works
The works included:
- Site mobilisation and demobilisation with full plant and materials management
- Excavation and level reduction of around 280+ cubic metres to prepare the site
- Removal and carting away of inert excavated materials
- Installation of a CL803 Type 1 MOT sub-base covering approx 100 cubic metres to create a solid foundation
- Compaction of the sub-base and stone layers to ensure stability
- Supply and installation of pin kerb edging, to define the site boundaries
- Construction of permeable paved parking bays covering roughly 270 square metres using Sudspave® permeable paving blocks
- Installation of geogrids and geotextiles for sub-base reinforcement and filtration, including:
- ABG Abgrid geogrid 30/30 and NW9 Geotextile
- Placement of Rootzone 60/40 topsoil and landscaping to planters to improve the site’s appearance
- Concrete infill around fence posts for security
- Supply and installation of precast concrete retaining walls from JP Concrete Products Ltd, including 27 L shaped wall sections and one corner wall section
- Coordination of material deliveries to meet the project schedule
- Supervision and setting out throughout to maintain quality and accuracy
