Project Overview
Turning a constrained embankment into usable infrastructure
Durkan & Sons Ltd delivered enabling works behind Christeyns’ processing plant to create a new tanker offload area and provide long-term protection to critical chemical service pipes.
The works stabilised a steep embankment with a galvanised steel king-post and precast concrete panel system. A reinforced concrete base slab was then formed and carefully tied into the existing retaining structure.

Construction Approach
Precision at every interface
Exact post centres were critical to the precast-panel fit. The wall, formwork, reinforcement and slab were sequenced around existing infrastructure so the finished works aligned cleanly with the existing retaining wall and protected the adjacent service pipes.
Excavate & Stabilise
Clear the restricted area, reduce levels and establish a compacted working formation.
Install King Posts
Auger foundations and set galvanised posts in concrete to the required alignment.
Place Precast Panels
Use controlled mobile-crane lifts to install panels between the steel posts.
Construct the Slab
Install formwork and reinforcement before casting the slab in planned sections.
