Overview
Durkan & Sons Ltd were appointed by Jack Lunn Group to deliver the complete groundworks package for a residential development of 29 affordable family homes on George Street, Darfield.
The scheme comprised a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties, together with a two-bedroom bungalow, requiring a comprehensive civil engineering and groundworks package including foundations, drainage, highways and external works.
Working in close collaboration with the client and local authority, our team successfully coordinated each phase of the project to maintain programme while delivering the infrastructure required for this new residential community.
Key Deliverables
Groundworks & Excavation
- Bulk excavation and site preparation.
- Excavation for foundations, drainage and underground services.
- Formation of working platforms and reduced level excavations.
Foundations & Substructure
- Construction of reinforced concrete foundations.
- Concrete floor slabs.
- Substructure brickwork constructed to damp proof course (DPC).
- Preparation of plots for superstructure construction.
Drainage & Infrastructure
- Installation of deep drainage systems.
- Plot drainage connections to all properties.
- Surface water attenuation infrastructure.
- Installation of new mains service connections.
- Testing and commissioning of drainage systems.
Roads & External Works
- Construction of two new adopted block paved access roads.
- Section 278 highway works completed to Local Authority requirements.
- Improvements to the existing public footpath and highway.
- External works, paving, kerbing and hard landscaping.
