Overview
Durkan & Sons Ltd were appointed by Mandale Homes to deliver the complete groundworks package for Ballard Hall, an exclusive residential development in the sought-after Ranmoor area of Sheffield.
The project comprised the construction of 24 luxury four and five-bedroom homes, requiring a comprehensive groundworks and civil engineering package from initial excavation through to completed roads, drainage and external works.
Working closely with the client and project team, all works were carefully planned and delivered to programme, providing the infrastructure required for this prestigious housing development.
Key Deliverables
Groundworks & Excavation
- Bulk earthworks and site preparation.
- Excavation for foundations, drainage and infrastructure.
- Formation of working platforms and reduced level excavations.
Foundations & Substructure
- Construction of reinforced concrete and traditional strip foundations.
- Concrete floor slabs.
- Substructure brickwork constructed to damp proof course (DPC).
- Retaining wall construction to create usable development areas.
Drainage & Infrastructure
- Installation of deep drainage systems.
- Plot drainage connections for all properties.
- Surface water and foul drainage infrastructure.
- Testing and commissioning of drainage systems.
Roads & External Works
- Section 278 highway works.
- Construction of estate roads and footpaths.
- Kerbing, paving and hard landscaping.
- Completion of external works throughout the development.
Project Outcome
The Ballard Hall development was successfully completed, providing the essential infrastructure for one of Sheffield’s most prestigious residential schemes.
The development went on to receive industry recognition through multiple UK property awards, including Residential Development (Multiple Units) for South Yorkshire and Interior Design (Show Home) for Yorkshire & the Humber, reflecting the quality of the completed project.
