Durkan & Sons Ltd is looking for a reliable Fuel Delivery Driver and Site Runner to support our construction sites across Yorkshire.
The driver will be based at our yard in Kellington and will be responsible for collecting fuel from nominated fuel distribution depots and bunkered fuel stations before distributing it to our construction sites using a company-provided 3.5-tonne 4×4 pickup.
Once the daily fuel deliveries are complete, the driver will work as a site runner, collecting and distributing materials, tools, parts and other supplies between our yard, suppliers and construction sites.
This is a key operational role. Reliability and punctuality are essential, as our construction sites depend on timely fuel and material deliveries to keep plant, machinery and site operations running.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect fuel from nominated fuel distribution depots and bunkered fuel stations for delivery to our construction sites.
- Deliver fuel safely and efficiently to sites across Yorkshire.
- Refuel excavators, dumpers and other construction plant and equipment.
- Use a company-provided tablet to record all fuel distributed.
- Accurately record the site, vehicle or machine receiving each fuel delivery.
- Use company fuel cards and collection accounts correctly, retaining all receipts and collection documentation.
- Work as a site runner once the daily fuel duties have been completed.
- Collect and deliver materials, tools, parts and supplies between our yard, suppliers and construction sites.
- Check collected items against delivery notes and instructions.
- Obtain delivery confirmations or signatures where required.
- Plan an efficient daily route in accordance with instructions from the office.
- Carry out daily checks on the vehicle and fuel-delivery equipment.
- Keep the vehicle clean, organised and ready for daily use.
- Report any vehicle, equipment or safety defects promptly.
- Follow company procedures and all site health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- A valid HGV licence, ideally Class 2 / Category C, would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Previous commercial driving or construction-site experience is preferred.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work consistently from 7:00am Monday to Friday.
- Flexible and available for occasional weekend work when required.
- Comfortable using a tablet to complete basic digital fuel and delivery records.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A safe, responsible and professional approach.
- Able to work independently and manage a changing daily delivery schedule.
- Physically capable of safely handling tools, parts and smaller construction materials.
- Good knowledge of Yorkshire and the surrounding road network would be beneficial.

Employment basis: Self-employed
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, with occasional weekend work where required
Base: Kellington, North Yorkshire, DN14 0NY
Working area: Durkan & Sons construction sites across Yorkshire
Vehicle: Company-provided 3.5-tonne 4×4 pickup
Rate: To be agreed based on experience
Occasional weekend working will be required to support site operations. Applicants must be reasonably flexible regarding working hours.
