Overview
Durkan & Sons Ltd were appointed to deliver essential groundworks and ducting infrastructure at York Solar Farm to support a new electric vehicle (EV) charging installation.
Working within the operational solar facility, our team provided a turnkey civils package that included hand-dug trenching, concrete base installation, and service coordination—demonstrating our capability to support energy infrastructure upgrades across live solar and renewable energy sites.
Scope of Works
- Manual Trenching & Ducting Installation
Hand excavation was carried out in a congested service corridor to protect existing high-voltage cables. Duct routes were prepared under live CAT scanning conditions with all materials and trench profiles aligned to client specifications. - EV Charger & Feeder Pillar Base Construction
Reinforced concrete pads were formed to accommodate a new mini feeder pillar and EV charge post. Flexibility was built in to install either a single slab or separate bases depending on site conditions and cable entry points. - Site Support & Coordination
- CAT scan and Permit to Dig provided by the client
- Service isolations completed prior to works
- Inductions managed on-site (form-based)
- Client handover of steel ground-mount for charger
- RAMS & Compliance
Full RAMS were prepared and issued in advance for approval, supporting a smooth handover to the client’s electrical team.
