Integrated civils for a major logistics facility
Durkan & Sons Ltd delivered the groundworks and civil engineering package for the Vantec 3 distribution warehouse at the Nissan Manufacturing Facility in Washington, Sunderland.
The package combined extensive earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, deep drainage, surface-water attenuation, service infrastructure, roads and external works. These elements were coordinated within the wider construction programme for the 436,000 sq ft building.

Groundwater & Dewatering
Maintaining control through deep construction
Groundwater was a significant engineering constraint, particularly during drainage and substructure operations. A continuous dewatering system controlled water levels and maintained suitable conditions for excavation, installation and concrete construction.
