Location: Our Yard in Kellington
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and reliable LGV/HGV Class 2 (Cat C) Driver for a short-term assignment! Based at our yard in Kellington, you’ll operate our 32T Grab Wagon and 26T Beavertail vehicles, as well as smaller vehicles when more efficient for the task, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of plant machinery, equipment, and materials to our project sites. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience with a leading civil engineering company.
We’ll provide you with a small van to travel to and from our yard.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate our 32T Grab Wagon and 26T Beavertail vehicles, as well as smaller vehicles as required.
- Load, secure, and unload plant machinery, equipment, and materials, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections, completing waste transfer notes (WTNs) and proof of delivery (POD) documentation.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance needs.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the vehicles, reflecting the professional image of Durkan & Sons Ltd.
Requirements:
- A valid LGV/HGV Class 2 (Cat C) driving license.
- Proven experience operating Grab Wagons and Beavertail vehicles, including loading and securing heavy plant.
- Ideally, hold a CPCS card for grab operation and have formal training in loading and securing loads.
- A valid Driver CPC card and digital tachograph card.
- An excellent driving record and a strong understanding of road safety regulations, including driver hours and rest periods.
- Experience with completing WTNs and PODs.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability to switch between different vehicle types and tasks.
- Must be reliable and safety-conscious, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
