Location: Our Yard in Kellington, Nr Goole, North Yorkshire
About the Role
Durkan & Sons Ltd is seeking a skilled and dependable LGV/HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driver for a short-term assignment, based at our yard in Kellington.
The primary role is to operate our 26T Beavertail vehicle, transporting excavators, dumpers, and plant equipment to and from live construction sites across Yorkshire. You’ll also provide occasional cover on our 32T Grab Wagon, assisting with aggregate deliveries and muckaway tasks when needed.
A small company van is provided for commuting to and from the yard.
Responsibilities:
- Operate our 26T Beavertail truck for safe transport of heavy plant and equipment
- Load, secure, and unload machinery using approved strapping and restraint methods
- Provide cover on the 32T Grab Wagon as needed (aggregate and muckaway work)
- Complete all relevant paperwork including PODs and Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs)
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and present a professional image on site
Requirements:
- A valid LGV/HGV Class 2 (Cat C) licence
- Experience operating Beavertail vehicles and securing tracked plant
- Some grab wagon experience is ideal (CPCS or formal training preferred)
- Must hold a valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Strong knowledge of driver hours, road safety, and load security
- Capable of working independently and managing paperwork
- Punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious
