We’re looking for an experienced Plant Fitter to join our team at our headquarters in Kellington and work on a diverse range of machinery, including excavators, dumpers, loaders, rollers, and vehicles. If you’re a skilled mechanic with a passion for keeping things running smoothly, enjoy the challenge of mobile response, are flexible with occasional weekend and out-of-hours work, have experience with HGV maintenance, and are comfortable using technology to manage your work, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

About the Role

This is a varied role with both workshop and mobile responsibilities. You will be based at our headquarters in Kellington, with regular travel to various sites to provide mobile support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out routine servicing and inspections on a variety of construction plant and vehicles, including our HGV fleet.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults on engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components across our fleet.
  • Providing mobile response to breakdowns and carrying out on-site repairs, including hydraulic repairs.
  • Carrying out welding and fabrication tasks as required.
  • Performing regular inspections and preparing our HGV vehicles for roadworthiness inspections, ensuring they meet all legal requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all work undertaken.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Using a company tablet to record work completed, update plant records, and manage site entry/exit procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, with a strong understanding of construction plant machinery and vehicles.
  • Extensive experience in hydraulic repairs and diagnostics.
  • Experience with HGV inspection, maintenance, and preparation for roadworthiness tests.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to safety.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and out-of-hours as required.
  • A full UK driving license is essential for this role.
  • Confidence in using a tablet and basic computer skills.

You should also be confident in your ability to perform:

  • Regular servicing and maintenance
  • PUWER inspections
  • LOLER inspections
